The main castle temple balances on the top of the rocky terrain at the end of the peninsular.
The Peniscola Castle was constructed by the Knight Templar but much of its early history remains unknown until a brief description of the castle was made by James I of Aragon back in the 13th century. More recently, this castle was featured in the movie ‘El Cid’ in the 1960s which has boosted the popularity of this grand castle region.
