Cartagena – Beautiful Murcian City
Cartagena is a famous Spanish port that abounds not only in culture but also its architectural history. It is here that you can see the past intermingled with the present as new buildings have been built on top of the old Roman buildings on which now renovation’s have been started. There are many tapas bars and pavement cafes where you can sit and relax while the world passes by or try one of
the many top class restaurants which have famous Spanish cuisine on offer. The beaches of Cartagena allows you to enjoy sailing, windsurfing and excellent diving along with many more water sports. La Manga is situated on the Costa Calida in the Murcia region. La Manga (the sleeve) is a narrow strip of land that stretches some 28 kilometres long and divides the Mediterranean from the Mar Menor (little sea). The world famous La Manga Club is located on the La Manga strip. If you have Euro’s to burn then this is the place to come and enjoy some serious self indulgence in this holiday paradise. This is the place to be waited on hand and foot for all of the possible luxury you could ask for.
The entrance to the La Manga Strip is protected by two lighthouses, one at the beginning called Cabo de Palos and the other Punta del Cocedo which is located next to the yacht club and the”Tomas Maestre” lighthouse at the other end of the Strip. In between there are lot’s of sandy beaches having spots for relaxing on both sides of the road along with a host of high rise buildings.
No matter where you choose to have your holiday villa, the Mar Menor is definitely worth a visit. This enclosed sea stays approximately 5 deg warmer than the Mediterranean. It is a good place to bring the family as the beaches are safe and friendly with lifeguards on duty. The gentle slope in the depth of the water makes a good place for the children to swim.

Playa Paraiso is a new development designed especially for the tourist trade to give you full access to all the region has to offer. It is 20 minutes from the airport of San Javier, 200 meters from the beach and surrounded by a rather large number of golf courses to suit your game. Don’t miss the twin defensive towers situated at Mazerron, more to the point it has fiesta’s which are celebrated year round, it’s just a big party. If you forgot your swimming costume, not to worry as there is a nudist beach, Bolnueuo, located here as well.
