Cap de Formentor, Majorca

Cap de Formentor sits on the northern tip of Majorca’s island, Balaeric. This is where the Serra de Tramuntana mountains meet the Mediterranean and is known by the locals as the meeting point of the winds.

It is a spectacular place to visit as it sits on the highest point of the island and is roughly 384m above sea level. This area has several stunning bays like Cala Figuera, Cala Murta, and Cala Pi de la Posada. Climb to the peaks for the unspoiled views of the island and sea or relax on the long white sandy beaches of Cap de Formentor’s many bays. There are traditional markets and bustling ports and of course many great places to eat and drink on the island.

If you are driving or cycling then make sure to explore the 13.5km road that runs from Cap de Formentor and Port de Pollenca which climbs through the mountains offering jaw-dropping scenery in all directions. This road was constructed by the famous Italian engineer, Antonio Paretti in 1925. There is also a lighthouse located on the point of the Cap de Formentor, between the rugged terrain of the mountain and the sea. Constructed in 1863 with much difficulty due to the height and location of the lighthouse.
